First Team Tournaments

Soccer Spooktacular 2005

This was the clubs first ever tournament and we only 3 teams entered, we had a great chance of taking home the trophy. We played each team twice in which we picked up 2 draws and 2 defeats, but because of our superior goal difference we went through to the final. In the final we played Heavitree Wanderers and after extra time we were defeated 3-1.

Digby Tournament 2006

The clubs second tournament was a new one, and was poorly ran. We competed in the group stages and after playing 2 matches and picking up 2 victories, we advanced into the last 16. From here we knew we had a challenge ahead of us as we played a team two years older than with exeter college players in. The match was quite firey and after a very controversial goal which the opposition team scored in the area and we came out defeated 1-0.

Soccer Spooktacular 2006

After our sucess in last years tournament we felt we would enter again. This year there were ten teams in our age group, these were split into 2 groups of 5. After winning all 4 matches, including a 17-0 win, we advanced into them semi finals. We came out 2-1 winners in this match and advanced into the final, which was a repeat of last year, Heavitree Wanderers V Cronies FC. But Once again we were defeated 4-1, but our sides valliant effort deserved the trophy.

100 Club Tournament 2007

With the club only fielding 2 of its original members, this tournament was always going to be an experience. We were drawn into group 6 in which we played 4 matches, 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 loss was enough to see us through to the last 16. We we drawn against mighty midgets and despite taking an early lead through stewart tyrer we were defeated 3-1. In this match we were made to rue missed chances after hitting the post twice and having two one on ones saved.

Cronies entered a team into this tournament under the stewardship of Yaqdhan Albusaidi fielding 2 debutants due to lack of numbers. There was 1 group with 5 teams with each team playing each other once in a round robin format. The top 4 teams progressed to the Semi-Finals with the winners meeting in the final and the losers contesting the 3rd place play-off.

Cronies main rivals in the tournament were Franks Barmy Army who were looking to retain the title after winning it earlier in the season. Captained by Cronie Frank Ndoli they were the overall favourites for the cup.
